Sigma Corporation is set to release its new 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS zoom lens in Tokyo on July 15. It is priced at about $640 and the first release is for the Sigma mount only, but Nikon and Canon mounts will follow shortly.
The new Sigma lens is equipped with the company’s own Optical Stabilizer system, which eliminates blurring due to hand movement while taking evening shots and indoor photos. It means steady shots in low light conditions that require longer exposures.
The Sigma optical stabilizer system uses two sensors inside the lens assembly that detect movement and compensates for the shake.
The new lens – made up of 18 glasses in 13 groups – can take macro shots at a minimum of 45cm distance while its maximum photographing magnification ratio is 1: 3.9. It comes with a lens hood attachment.
