Tamron has announced the new SP AF10-24mm F/3.5-4.5 Di II LD Aspherical (IF) lens, featuring the first 2.4x zoom ratio in its class of ultra wide-angle zoom lenses.
The new lens is designed exclusively for Canon and Nikon (with built-in AF motor) digital SLRs with APS-C sized image sensors. Pentax and Sony mount models will be announced at a later date.
The Tamron SP AF10-24mm Di II features a focal length range of 16mm ultra wide-angle to 37mm semi-wide-angle in 35mm equivalent. The company boasts that with this versatile ultra-wide-angle zoom lens, photographers can capture magnificent vistas and extraordinary close-ups, bold compositions and unique perspectives, creating imagery impossible with standard wide-angle lenses.
The new lens announcement is timed with Photokina 2008, but there’s no information yet on pricing and availability.
