Nikon today opened a new website featuring flash animations exclusively for their new entry-level D40 digital SLR camera. In it, Nikon explains the advantage of using a DSLR over point-and-shoot cameras, which of course applies not just to the D40 but to other DSLRs as well.
Nikon says digital SLRs offer speed, image quality, creative potential and expandability such as interchangeable lenses. But there is another important reason that may be less obvious: using an optical viewfinder instead of an LCD to compose your photos. When you put your eye to the viewfinder, there’s a stronger connection between you and whatever you are photographing.
Nikon also assures those still apprehensive about the complexities of a DSLR that the D40 has enough automatic features that take care of producing great pictures even if you are an amateur.
Nikon’s pitch is that the D40 is easy to enjoy, easy to expand and easy to use.
