Fujifilm Adds Face Detection to FinePix Z5fd

Fujifilm is expanding its camera lines that carry their face detection feature, by adding it to their range of ‘Z’ series compacts. The latest to feature Fuji’s hardware-based Face Detection technology is the ultra-compact FinePix Z5fd.

Fujifilm said the 6-megapixel Z5fd features the traditional ‘Z’ series sliding lens cover, with a ‘Z5’ motif that lights up in operation, 2.5″ scratch resistant LCD screen and non-extending Fujinon 3x optical zoom lens so that it will emerge unscathed from even the most cluttered of spaces.

The FinePix Z5fd now joins the FinePix S6500fd and F31fd in Fujifilm’s current ‘fd’ line-up. Face Detection detects up to ten faces in a frame and optimizes focus and exposure to take the best possible shot of people.

When FD is on, it displays target-like squares to indicate that it has locked on to people’s faces. In playback mode, the FD feature will auto-zoom to show the faces one by one.
