Canon USA has released Firmware Version 2.0.3 for the Canon EOS 5D Mark II full-frame DSLR to enhance its video capabilities, plus other improvements.
The 5D Mark II’s 30fps setting now gives frame rates that match TV production standards. Also, its audio sampling frequency has been increased from 44.1KHz to 48KHz, and a 64-step manual audio level control has been added in response to request from videographers.
A histogram now also displays when shooting movies manually, to assist with correct exposure. Both shutter- and aperture-priority shooting modes have been improved. Another benefit of Firmware v2.0.3 is the ability to shoot movies while in Av or Tv modes (previously, only fully automatic or fully manual shooting was available in Movie Mode).
