Sigma finally announced today that its SD14 digital SLR camera is ready for primetime. Nope, it didn’t come out today, the SD14 – according to Sigma – will ship beginning March 6, with some accessories launching alongside the camera, and others a month or two later.
Sigma previously announced that it had postponed the launch of the SD14 due to some hardware problems.
The SD14 digital SLR features the Foveon direct image sensor, touted for its ability to capture full color information at every pixel location. The SD14 has a 4.69-megapixel effective resolution from 14.1 million photodiodes arranged in three layers, and it’s supposed to capture images with high dynamic range, favored by wedding and portrait photographers.
