Canon is offering mail-in rebates of from $10 to $300 on select Canon products, clearly an enticement for existing and potential customers to expand the EOS line.
For example, you get back $300 if you buy the 12.8 megapixel EOS 5D digital SLR with a full frame CMOS sensor, or $100 if you choose the advanced yet affordable EOS 30D digital SLR.
The company said “the Cash in With Canon Rebate Program gives users of all levels the chance to build or expand an EOS system of fine photographic gear that will give users professional level results for years to come.” (In plain speak, “buy more from us, we’re scared of the competition.â€)
Canon is effectively lowering its prices, and this could spark a price war. Good for us, buyers. We may be able to afford that nice DSLR after all.
The Canon mail-in rebates cover selected Canon products bought from an authorized Canon U.S.A. dealer from October 15, 2006 through January 13, 2007. See the complete list of eligible products at Canon USA.
