Zoran Corporation prides itself in providing the electronic heart of almost all digital cameras. If you look inside a digicam you’ll find a chip there marked Zoran. Nikon, Olympus, Pentax, Samsung, Sony and others are using the same Zoran processors (which is not to be confused of course with the image sensor).
Their latest offering, the Zoran Coach 9 processor, is an application specific digital signal processing chip, which constitutes the heart of a digital camera for capturing still images and video.
The Coach 9 digital camera processor can handle up to 16 megapixels of image capture resolution, with 16-bit image processing. It is also capable of WMV MPEG-4, video capture and playback of VGA resolution at 30 frames/sec including audio and 20 frames/sec at SVGA resolution when used with digital video camcorders.
