What Software is Best to Rename 13,000 Images?

A blogger at the National Geographic website posed this challenge: what program would you use to sort out and rename 13,000 images?

Then he proceeded to compare the performances of iView Media Pro, Expression Media, Photo Mechanic, Bridge and Lightroom only to emerge with the conclusion that all these programs come up short, except for Lightroom which he says is able to sort all images properly.

Would you agree? My big question is why did he leave out Aperture? Or ACDSee, or Capture One, Bibble, Capture NX, etc.?
