The Phantom Miro 3 high-speed digital camera has industrial applications such as in biometric research and automotive crash testing; anywhere you need a very fast camera to capture and study moving objects.
Vision Research Inc. says this is just the first in a line of Phantom high-speed digital cameras designed for industrial use; there will be more. The Phantom Miro 3 can take 512 x 512-pixel images at up to 2200 frames per second (fps). It claims an ISO rating of 4800, combine this with a shutter speed of 2 microseconds and you have a camera that can freeze fast-moving objects for motion analysis.
It is also very rugged; the Miro 3 can survive 100g acceleration in crash test situations. In addition, this high-speed camera features external control signals for external triggering, camera synchronization, and time-stamping. The camera has both dynamic RAM and internal flash memory for non-volatile storage.
