Sharp reports that it has developed the world’s thinnest CMOS autofocus camera module for mobile phones. The tiny module, with part number RJ63SC100 and measuring only 9.5×9.5×6.6mm, can deliver 5-megapixel images.
Its signal to noise (S/N) ratio has been improved by 1.6 times, according to Sharp, to enable mobile phones to take high resolution and clear images.
Sample shipment will start from May 30 and production will commence on June 30, 2008. Sharp projects a monthly production target of 400,000 units.
