Judging from the number of camera models that now use SDHC cards, it appears that the format is poised for market leadership. According to the SD Card Association, 55 camera models from ten camera makers now offer SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) card compatibility.

The SDHC format offers three speed classes – Class 2, Class 4 and Class 6 – with at least 2, 4, and 6MBps data transfer rates respectively.

Among the camera manufacturers that now offer SDHC support are Canon, Casio, Leica, Nikon, Panasonic, Pentax, Ricoh, Samsung, Sanyo and Uniden.

In addition, many photo printers, card readers, video cameras and other devices are also equipped for SDHC guaranteed transfer rates, demonstrating the trend toward SDHC Memory Card leadership, according to the SDCA.
