Samsung says it has developed an 8GB microSD card, today’s highest capacity for the card format which is best suited for multimedia mobile phones.

With 8GB, the fingernail-sized card can store 2,000 MP3 music files, 4,000 digital photos, or 5 DVD-quality movies.

Samsung’s new microSD card has a read speed of 16MBps and a write speed of 6MBps, well exceeding the Speed Class 4 SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) standard which requires a data write speed of 4MB/s.
