Ricoh Launches Caplio GX100 with Removable Viewfinder

Ricoh Caplio GX100 with Removable Viewfinder

Ricoh has launched the Caplio GX100, the first compact camera to feature a removable electronic viewfinder.

Why a removable viewfinder? Well, there are times when outdoor lighting is too strong that you just can’t see what’s on the LCD screen, that’s when you need a good viewfinder. Then there are times when you just want a good, sleek and slender camera, that’s when you remove it.

The viewfinder of the GX100 mounts on the hot shoe of the camera for SLR-style framing and zooming. Ricoh says the removable VF gives 100% image coverage with synchronized focal length and no parallax error.

The Ricoh Caplio GX100 is a 10-megapixel camera with an equivalent zoom of 24-72mm. It uses 11 lens elements in 7 groups and can be expanded to ultra-wide-angle equivalent to 19 mm using an optional wide conversion lens. It also features a Vibration Correction function, based on a CCD shift method.
