Okay, okay…this one’s good. For its price of $500 it had better be good. Imaging Resource has examined the Canon Pixma Pro9000 and they report that this 8-color dye-based inkjet printer indeed delivers on its promise to print high quality images with vibrant color. It does this with blazing speed because of its large print head, and does so with finesse. Its 13 x 19-inch dye-based color prints are dazzling; this one’s really for the pros.
IR says the Pro9000 even beats the pigment-based HP B9180 photo printer when they compared prints from both printers. “With dye-based inks, the orange was vivid again. But to our surprise the black foreground was much deeper, too. The Canon far surpassed the HP for this particular image. And the HP was printed on glossy paper, which should have flattered its dynamic range,†said the IR review.
