Taiwan’s memory card maker Pretec has released its S-Diamond multiple-interface memory card, or miCard, claiming to be the first to implement the new memory card format of the MultiMediaCard Association.
Pretec made the announcement at the ongoing Computex Taipei electronics trade show which runs June 5-9 in Taiwan.
The S-Diamond miCard measures 21 x 12 x 1.95mm, making it the smallest USB flash drive today. With an inexpensive adapter, it can also function as an SD/MMC card.
The miCard is the new memory card format of the MMCA that aims to interface with many portable – digital cameras, smart phones, and PDAs – by offering multiple connectivity options. It also includes a direct USB connector so there’s no need for an external card reader to use it.
