The new Pentax Optio WS80 waterproof camera is more budget-friendly than its older sibling, the Optio W80, because it can go down to only 5 feet underwater rather than the W80’s 16-foot capability.
But 5 feet underwater means the WS80 is pretty much a waterproof camera that you can take happily in the swimming pool or the beach, so the usefulness is there. Plus, consider the other features: 10 megapixels, 2.7-inch display, 720p 30/15fps HD video recording and 5x internal optical zoom.
The Pentax Optio WS80 is scheduled for release next month, with a price tag of $250. Your other options — if you’re in the market for a waterproof camera — are the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS1, Olympus Stylus Tough 8000 and Canon PowerShot D10.
