Pentax also took its turn today to announce its own new cameras, two of them in fact, the M40 and E40.
The Pentax M40 offers 8.0 megapixels (aren’t we proud of our compacts today offering 8MP as standard?), 2.5-inch LCD, a metal body, Face Recognition and Shake Reduction. It retails for $200 and will ship next month.
The cheaper E40 ($150) packs 8.1 megapixels and also features Face Recognition technology and Digital Shake Reduction functions. In addition, this entry-level compact can run on AA batteries and is designed for simple and intuitive operation so that even beginners can enjoy photography effortlessly. This model will be available in September.
