The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX500 compact digital camera can shoot high definition (HD) movies with 1280×720 pixels at 30 frames per second and play them back on your large-screen TV at 16:9 aspect ratio. Needless to say, it can also record movies at 848x480p (WVGA) or 640x480p in standard VGA.
But first and foremost, the Lumix FX500 is a superb digital still camera. With a 3-inch touch-screen LCD, 25mm ultra-wide-angle Leica DC lens, 5x optical zoom and 10.1 megapixels, it can’t be anything but a superb camera.
Add such niceties as optical image stabilization, red-eye correction, face detection and autofocus tracking and what do you get? A digital compact very well worth its $400 price, shipping in May.
