Panasonic will release its Write-Once Blu-ray Discs (BD-R) with 4x writing speed and 25GB capacity on July 25; a 50GB version is due on September 25.
The new 4x BD-R discs have a maximum data transfer speed of 144Mbps, or 1GB in just one minute. They will complement the 4x Blu-ray disc drives from Panasonic and other manufacturers which have earlier been released for use in computers to handle large amounts of data.
The 50GB version due in September is a dual layer disc which can record data without having to flip the disc over.
