Olympus Unveils SP-800UZ Camera with 30X Zoom

The longest zoom just got even longer with the Olympus SP-800UZ digital camera which now sports 30X zoom; that’s the equivalent of 28mm to a staggering 840mm in 35mm terms. At its widest (28mm), the 800UZ opens up to f2.8 aperture and f5.6 at the longest end.

It is also billed by Olympus as the world’s smallest 30x wide-angle optical-zoom (4.2″W x 2.9″H x 3.3″D); the 800UZ is small enough to go wherever your travels take you.

The 14-megapixel SP-800UZ features a big 3.0-inch LCD screen and a new Shadow Adjustment technology that’s supposed to deliver high dynamic range (HDR) images. It can also record 720p HD movies.

The SP-800UZ will be available in March 2010 for $350, along with its $250 sibling, the SP-600UZ with 12 megapixels, 15X zoom and 2.7” LCD screen.
