The New York Underwater Photo Society has been launched (according to a press release) and it is inviting everybody to become members of the new organization which hope to bring together underwater photographers and videographers from the tri-state area NY to share and learn about the world of underwater imagery and marine conservation.

Membership is open to novices, amateurs and pros; even those from outside the region are welcome to become members, according to its prime mover Jason Heller.

He said NYUPS will host annual photo expeditions to some of the world’s most bio-diverse hot spots beginning next year. The society will also launch an international underwater photo and video competition & festival.

Those interested to join NYUPS may try to sign up at www.nyups.org for a newsletter of the budding society to receive additional information. At the moment, though, the website appears to be under construction.
