Canon has just released two new lenses geared towards professional and advanced amateur photographers. These lenses are expected to be available in November 2006.
The EF 50mm f/1.2L USM Lens
With a maximum aperature of f/1.2 this lens is sure to be a low light shooter’s dream. That combined with the L quality and the notoriously sharp 50mm focal length should make this lens a staple for professional and advanced amateur photographers.
With a price tag of $1599, it’s not likely to cut into the sales of the 50mm f/1.8 (nifty fifty) or the 50mm f/1.4. I think this lens was built to answer the call for a 50mm L series lens.
The EF70-200mm f/4L IS USM Lens
The difference from the 70-200 f/4 L USM is that this model has IS (image stabilization) and is weather sealed.
