Nero.com is happy that its Nero 7 software has been certified for authoring and playback for AVCHD, the Advanced Video Codec High Definition Standard used by Sony and Panasonic.
AVCHD is a new recording format that uses an MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) video codec that allows for greater compression efficiency and higher quality audio and video capturing.
Certification means that with Nero 7 users can add menus, create chapters, edit video, etc., while also being able to play back their video directly on their PC, or through consumer devices such as the PlayStation 3 or Blu-ray Disc players.
Nero 7 certified AVCHD authoring also means users can encode their non AVCHD content into H.264 allowing it to also be played back on Blu-ray disc players.
