NASA Orders Nikon D3S DSLRs, Lenses

Nikon D3S DSLR Camera

Nikon proudly announces that NASA, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, has placed an order for 11 D3S digital SLR cameras and 7 AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED lenses to be used in space. Which is not surprising, because Nikon has always had a long history of association with the space agency beginning in 1971 when Apollo 15 used its Nikon F camera with NASA specs.

But this time, there are no special NASA specifications, the D3S digital SLR cameras and AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED lenses will be used as they are, no special modifications. They will be the same products available to end-users, confirming the incredible versatility of the D3S, Nikon said.

These equipment will be used along with the Nikon D2XS digital SLR cameras, NIKKOR lenses, and Nikon Speedlights already in use at the International Space Station.
