Microtek has announced their ArtixScan M1 scanner, specialized for photographic film applications. It is a combination film and flatbed scanner for 35mm, 2 1/4×2 1/4, and 4×5-inch film formats and reflective art up to 8.5×14 inches.
The ArtixScan M1 uses emulsion direct imaging technology (EDIT) and has 4800 dpi optical resolution, 16-bit digital output per channel, autofocus, and film holders with tension technology to keep the emulsion flat.
The company says the ArtixScan M1 is the first to deliver equally high-quality results from film or reflective media. In fact, the company claims the scanner will surpass the film scanning capability of dedicated film scanners.
