If you’re in London’s Gatwick Airport, at the North Terminal, you just might notice the first flash memory vending machine there, courtesy of memory maker Kingston Technology.
It dispenses SD cards, CompactFlash cards, DataTraveler USB drives and others in Kingston’s range of flash memory products. The vending machine is there in partnership with digital doodads seller MyMemory.
The vending machines will eventually be installed in all major airports, mainline stations and underground stations; additional high-traffic venues will follow later in the year.
MyMemory will stock the vending machines on a daily basis and will monitor sales remotely using its new telemetry technology. MyMemory’s unique memory selector will be integrated into all vending machines so memory-challenged customers can have the confidence they are purchasing the correct memory card for their device.
