The Varioptic liquid lens, which can vary its focus by changing its shape, is making its debut with a 2-megapixel USB camera.
The IVIN-2M USB 2.0 camera features a CMOS imager with selectable display resolution from 320 X 240 at 30 fps up to 1600 X 1200 at 15 fps. It hopes to find application in biometrics, surveillance, security systems, vision applications and general imaging systems.
“Incorporating the liquid lens represents a significant advantage over other autofocus technologies. Our objective is to provide innovative USB camera solutions to industrial manufacturers and Varioptic’s liquid lens leads the way for autofocus solutions in this sector,†says David Birkner, President of IVA Corporation, maker of the USB camera.
The IVIN-2M USB 2.0 camera was demonstrated at the Opto in Paris last week and will be on display at CEATEC Japan on October 1-6, 2007.
