I3A Confers 2008 Leadership Award to Nikon President

Makoto Kimura, President Nikon Imaging Company

The I3A (International Imaging Industry Association) must have been sufficiently impressed with the entry of Nikon’s flagship D3 and D300 DSLRs into the market, they awarded its president the Leadership Award for 2008.

Makoto Kimura, President, Nikon Imaging Company, and Senior Executive Officer, Nikon Corporation, personally accepted the award at PMA 2008 last February 1st.

“We admire his steadfast leadership throughout the transition to digital imaging, as well as the breakthrough products launched under his guidance, which demonstrate the important role Nikon continues to play in the continuing evolution of our industry,” said Lisa Walker, President, International Imaging Industry Association.

Does this mean Nikon is now the leader and Canon should fall behind? No way, Canon must be saying, after all, even if Nikon has overtaken Canon in Japan DSLR sales, they still outsell Nikon worldwide. But those D3 and D300 DSLRs are really formidable.
