Charmed Labs is selling the first 400 units of the GigaPan robotic camera platform to customers who will agree to be part of the beta testing for the device.
The GigaPan platform will be offered at an introductory price of $279 to people who are interested to take part in the testing. Those interested should apply online at Charmed Labs before October 19; they will be notified a week later if a unit is available to them. Those who will get a unit are expected to provide feedback to Charmed Labs.
The robotic camera platform is designed to work with a wide variety of digital cameras to capture multi-gigapixel panoramas that can be viewed, navigated, and magnified with the GigaPan online viewer.
Gigapan and the Gigapan imager are part of the Global Connection Project, which is a joint project of Carnegie Mellon University Robotics Institute, NASA Ames Intelligent Robotics Group, Google and National Geographic.
