Another camera introduced by Fujifilm today is the FinePix S8000fd, an 8-megapixel, SLR-styled model with a fixed lens featuring an 18x zoom. That’s a 27mm-486mm zoom equivalent in 35mm terms.
The S8000fd features Fujifilm’s Face Detection technology, identifying up to 10 faces in a framed scene and prioritizing them in focus and exposure to get the best photos of people.
It also comes with Fujifilm’s latest Dual Image Stabilization, a combination of mechanical sensor shift stabilization with Fujifilm’s Picture Stabilization Technology which utilizes a combination of higher ISO levels and faster shutter speeds. This is supposed to steady the photographer’s hand, and protects against camera shake and subject movement for total anti-blur protection.
The $400 S8000fd is one of seven new models unveiled today by Fujifilm. The others are the F50fd, Z100fd, Z10fd, F480, S5800 and A920.
