Fujifilm Bags DIMA Digital Printer Shoot-Out Award

Fujifilm ASK-4000 Dye Sub Photo Printer

Fujifilm bagged another DIMA award at PMA 07, this time for its ASK-4000 dye sublimation printer which bested all other entrants.

They went through a printer shoot-out for this one where entrants received a target file and color-accurate target print. They were asked to output the file according to particular specifications to produce the best possible print.

A panel of expert judges evaluated the printers using criteria such as neutral gray balance reproduction, saturation, shadow detail and quality, overall tonality and detail, highlights and specular highlights, flesh tones, hue shift, and text.

The Fujifilm ASK-4000 printer simply came out on top, besting all others in the dye sublimation category. ASK-4000 is a high-speed dye-sub digital photo printer for professional use.

Fujifilm earlier got a DIMA Award of its innovative FinePix IS-1 Infrared digital camera.

For what it is worth, Fuji entered their printer in the wrong category. They entered the ASK-4000 in the “cut sheet” category – it should have been entered in the 8″ roll category.
