FotoNation Introduces FaceTime Technology

FotoNation FaceTime Technology

One other innovation introduced by FotoNation is the FaceTime technology. Although the name reminds you of how the Japanese mangle the English language, this new technology is truly revolutionary.

FaceTime solves the long standing problem of including yourself in a group photo. Or doing a self-portrait. The self-timer delay just doesn’t quite hack it and using a remote shutter is beyond most camera users.

FaceTime is a new type of shutter trigger technology that is invoked when the photographer’s face is detected in a scene. After the photographer puts the camera in FaceTime mode and presses the shutter button, the camera waits to fire the shutter until it recognizes the addition of the face of the photographer to the scene. Once detected, a count-down timer is initiated giving photographers time to relax and compose themselves in the scene.

Isn’t technology great? (FaceTime, would you still know my face if I make faces?)
