It looks pretty, and the published specs – at least on paper – are quite enticing. But something tells me you have to cast a wary eye on something that sounds a bit too good to be true, like this one.
For $149 the DXG-506V offers 5.1 megapixels and that’s quite impressive; but it’s basically a digital still camera masquerading as a camcorder that can take VGA videos in the MPEG-4 format.
You could try offering this to your teenager, and hope that the colors would appeal to him or her (pink, blue, silver, black); its MP3 player should.
It’s being offered by a company called DXG USA. Is it made in the USA? I don’t know.
