What is the DaVinci technology in relation to digital cameras?
In a nutshell, it’s supposed to give low-cost point-and-shoot cameras the ability to shoot full-resolution images at 5 frames per second; it aims to bring the type of burst capture performance found only in DSLRs!
We’re not dreaming here, are we? Certainly not; while we fervently hope that this becomes reality soon, the technology is already here, courtesy of Texas Instruments.
The company is offering their production-ready software reference design for digital still cameras based on DaVinci technology. It includes a highly flexible processor, software for a completely functional digital camera and development framework.
In addition to fast burst capture rate, the DaVinci technology can also enable high-definition videos and photos on ordinary digital cameras. Now, that’s something to dream about…
