Canon today introduced two new super-zoom cameras, the PowerShot SX1 IS and PowerShot SX10 IS, both offering 10 megapixels, a wide-angle (28-560mm) 20x optical zoom lens, an Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS), Canon’s new DIGIC 4 image processor and a smooth, curved grip that the company says fits in the hand comfortably.
Canon said soccer moms and travelling snapshooters can take advantage of its long zoom to take that action shot from the bleachers or capture that sunset from the comfort of a hotel balcony.
The Canon PowerShot SX10 IS digital camera can shoot VGA movies of up to one hour or 4GB per clip; the PowerShot SX1 IS delivers 1080p (30fps) High Definition video – ready for instant playback on any HDTV via a built-in HDMI connection.
The PowerShot SX10 IS will be available in October for about $400 while the SX1 IS will start shipping in December with a retail price of about $580.
