Announced today with the new Canon EOS 7D digital SLR were three lenses, the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS, EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM and the EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM.
Canon said the high-quality EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM ($800) is equivalent to a 24-136mm focal length lens (5.6x standard zoom). It also offers a 4-stop Image Stabilizer as well as a close focusing distance of just 0.35m throughout the zoom range.
The EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS ($500) is a powerful all-in-one lens for EOS EF-S mount bodies, according to the company. It features a 4-stop Image Stabilizer and a 7.5x super zoom range (approx. 29-216mm equivalent focal length). The lens covers a wide range of focal lengths with a 0.45m minimum focusing distance. A general-purpose zoom, it is ideal for photographers looking to make the step up from a standard kit lens.
The company said the EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM lens ($1,049) could very well be the essential multipurpose lens for every camera bag due to its ability to capture sharp close-up images of small objects as well as beautiful portrait-length telephoto shots. The incorporation of Canon’s new Hybrid IS in this L-series macro lens allows it to compensate more effectively for camera shake during close-up shooting and marks a significant improvement for professionals and advanced amateurs utilizing macro photography for portrait, nature or wedding shoots.
The new lenses will be available towards the end of this month.
