Blow Up by Alien Skin

Blow Up software

If you want to make giant posters or any other large format print of your digital pictures, you don’t just use Photoshop to do that. You use a plug-in to handle that kind of specialized job.

And that’s what the Blow Up software does. It simplifies and improves image enlargement, making it easy to convert web graphics to print and create large format and gallery prints from digital snapshots. Blow Up, by Alien Skin, is a plug-in for Adobe Photoshop and Photoshop Elements.

It claims to be better than using Photoshop bicubic outright. Alien Skin says, “Blow Up preserves the crisp lines and smooth colors in a source image. Blow Up scales image up to 10000 percent — 10 times in each dimension — with no stairstep, halo, or fringe artifacts.” Whoa! dem are big claims there.

Blow Up supports CMYK, RGB, Lab, Grayscale, and Duotone image modes. $199 the price; with discount if you register.
