Photographers all over the world are invited to take a photograph with a pinhole camera during the 24 hours of Sunday, April 29 and upload it to www.pinhole.org, in celebration of “Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day.â€
The day marks a global event celebrating the fantasy, art, fun and experience of lensless photography. Pinhole photos are taken without using any lens; pinhole cameras make use of the image imprinted on film by light that passes through a hole as small as a dot in an enclosure no simpler than a shoe box.
An increasing number of people are taking part in this activity. In 2001, 291 pinhole photographers from 24 countries took part in the web exhibition; in 2006, a good 2267 from 60 countries took part.
