The new Sony Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo media offers up to 3x faster data transfer than standard Memory Stick Duo products.
The new media offers shorter data transmission times and faster recording times between hardware because of its 8-bit parallel interface. Sony said with the addition of four connector pins to the Memory Stick’s traditional 4-bit parallel interface, the resulting 8-bit parallel interface provides data transfer of up to 30MB/s (240 Mbps) megabytes per second.
The Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo media may also be used with conventional 4-bit parallel interface hardware, performing with the format’s minimum write speed of 15 megabits per second.
The new memory sticks will be out in August in capacities of 1GB ($60), 2GB ($90) and 4GB ($150).
