Sony Admits Problems with T20 Cyber-shots, Offers Free Service

Sony T20 Cyber-shot Digital Camera

There’s a vibration problem with some of Sony’s DSC-T20 Cyber-shot cameras sold in the United States. The affected cameras also have a problem with focusing; at times, they won’t take a picture at all.

Not to worry, says Sony. They will provide free repair for the defective T20s until July 17, 2011. Just bring them to your nearest Sony service center.

Do you own the T20? Check the serial number of your T20 at the bottom of the camera. Sony says the affected cameras have serial numbers between 500001 and 525350. If yours is within this range, have it checked and repaired immediately, never mind that Sony says not all cameras within that range of serial numbers are affected.

During the free repair period, Sony will provide customers in the United States a prepaid shipping label so that you may send your affected DSC-T20 camera to the Sony Service Center for free repair.
