Image Stabilization (IS) for Canon, Shake Reduction (SR) for Pentax, Vibration Reduction (VR) for Nikon and Super SteadyShot (SSS) for Sony. They are all meant to reduce blur due to camera shake or hand movement at the instant a photo is taken. Some move the lens, others move the CCD to counteract the shake and produce a sharper picture.
Sanyo has joined the fray by choosing InvenSense, a provider of motion sensing solutions for mobile applications, to provide image stabilization to its new generation of digital still cameras.
The company said InvenSense’s integrated dual-axis single-chip gyroscope is a key enabler of this feature and is already used within some of their current models.
