Ricoh Co., Ltd. today launched the GX200 12-megapixel CCD compact camera featuring a high-end 24mm ultra-wide-angle optical zoom. This camera succeeds the award winning Caplio GX100 compact digital camera introduced in April 2007.
Like its predecessor, the GX200 features a 24-72mm (35mm film equivalent focal length) wide-angle optical zoom lens on a 25mm thin pocketable compact body, a wide variety of manual shooting functions, and a removable tilting electronic viewfinder.
The new GX200 improves on the resolution department via its 12 megapixel CCD. Ricoh said the new camera also achieves dramatic noise reduction with the addition of the new image processing engine Smooth Imaging Engine III, a boon in Raw shooting.
When it becomes available in the US next month, the GX200 is expected to cost around $689 without the viewfinder, or $788 with the viewfinder.
