The Pentax K20D digital SLR camera has dropped its price to $1,000 body only, a 30% drop from its introductory price of $1300 when it debuted last January.
The award-winning K20D is Pentax’s flagship DSLR. It’s a full-featured professional level camera that boasts a 14.6-megapixel CMOS sensor, a weather resistant body and a 3-step dust reduction system, among others.
In the face of competition, however, the company has been struggling to turn in a profit since its acquisition by Hoya Corporation. Pentax said it is also reducing the price of its popular Optio W60 waterproof compact camera to about $300; the W60 now has a street price that hovers around $250.
