NPAC Launches “Pictures of the Year” in Canada

The News Photographers Association of Canada (NPAC) has launched its first “Pictures of the Year” competition, designed to celebrate the best of Canada’s photojournalism.

The “Pictures of the Year” competition was born out of the merger of regional contests run by the Eastern Canadian News Photographers Association and the Western Canadian News Photographers Association. Only members of both associations are eligible to join the contest.

There will be awards in 12 categories, ranging from spot news to student portfolio of the year, including “Canadian Photojournalist of the Year” sponsored by The Canadian Press, and “Canadian Photograph of the Year” sponsored by Reuters.

Deadline for submission of entries is on January 31, 2007.
