Light modifiers for Home Depot lights

I just found your site - awesome for a beginner like me!
I just read about using home depot work lights in the studio, but wondered if you could point me in the right direction as far as home made light modifiers for them. If you can send me in the right direction, that would be wonderful!

Tarrah,
Thanks for the compliments! Due to the extreme amount of heat given off by halogen work lamps, it may be a bad idea to use any sort of light modifier that will be close to the bulb. I recommend you consider hanging a large translucent material in front of it or a diffusion panel which can stand by itself. This will allow you to keep the light cool and to have some distance from any flammable material.
You can purchase diffusion panels at Adorama.com or any major photography retail store, or you could build one yourself from PVC or wood and a sheet of ripstop nylon, for example.

Hello -
I've used home depot clamp on work lights with full spectrum twist in bulbs. to soften the light I would use a piece of white copy paper and drape it over the opening.
Best,
Dan
