Here’s Basic Training for New Owners of DSLRs

Debbie Grossman

Imaging guru Debbie Grossman of PopPhoto.com is offering five simple drills to get your started on using your new digital SLR camera, to move you up from shooting always on Auto mode, to tweaking camera controls and shooting like a real pro.

In her new article, “DSLR Basic Training,” Debbie takes you to Drill 1 where you will learn to understand exposure compensation and basic settings for your camera. Drills 2 & 3 are about flash and lighting; when to use flash and when not to use it, and stuff like ISO settings.

Drill 4 teaches you how to freeze the action, and Drill 5 lets you understand what an aperture is. Debbie is a pretty easy read, and so entertaining you’d get through all drills in no time at all.
