Continuing its highly acclaimed F series of high-performance compact cameras – F10, F20, F30 and F31fd – Fujifilm has launched the FinePix F40fd, featuring 8.3 megapixels, 3x zoom lens, 300-shot battery life, Face Detection technology and support for both xD-Picture Card and SD card formats.
This is clearly aimed at the serious snap-shooter who takes a lot of pictures and demands high performance from a compact digital camera. The F40fd debuts a redesigned outer-shell and graphical user interface (GUI) system for Fujifilm’s F series. It’s also slimmer than its predecessor at 23.3mm deep and makes it even more pocketable.
The F40fd sports an enhanced 2.5-inch LCD screen and claims a more realistic ISO 2000 light sensitivity than the F31fd’s overblown ISO 3200. The new camera’s real strength, though, lies in Fujifilm’s Real Photo Technology which brings together CCD, processor and lens to deliver images of optimum quality, and in its face detection algorithm which prioritizes faces of people above other details.
