Canon announced Wednesday three new compact cameras in their Digital ELPH series – the PowerShot SD890 IS, SD790 IS and SD770 IS – all touting 10 megapixels and image stabilization.
Aside from Canon’s optical image stabilization, the 3 new cameras also feature motion detection, face detection and Canon’s proprietary DIGIC III imaging processor.
The PowerShot SD890 IS Digital ELPH camera ($400, MSRP) has 5x zoom and a brilliant 2.5 inch PureColor LCD II display. It retains an optical viewfinder, thank you, this is still very useful if you want to conserve battery life by turning off live view and composing via the viewfinder instead.
The PowerShot SD790 IS Digital ELPH ($350, MSRP) has 3x zoom and a 3-inch PureColor LCD II screen while the SD770 IS ($300, MSRP) differs from it only with a 2.5-inch LCD screen.
