Brits Grit Teeth on Uneven Pricing of Adobe CS3

Adobe Creative Suite 3 Box

Photographers in the UK are calling for a Europe-wide boycott of Adobe Creative Suite 3 because of what they call as unfair pricing. They say a CS3 upgrade costs $199 in the U.S. and Canada while the same is being offered at $319 in the UK.

The petition urges Adobe to revise “their pricing for Europe and apply fair pricing for European countries.” Otherwise, “we request a valid explanation of why Adobe sells their products 190% of the US price to its European customers,” the petition said. A detailed comparison of CS3 prices has been posted here.

Adobe responded by saying that indeed pricing is higher in Europe on many goods, not just software. “The costs of doing business in European markets are significantly higher per unit of revenue than in the US,” Adobe said.
